Leaving on a Jet Plane
New York City has been quietly funding a program, sending homeless people in New York on a one way journey out of its shelters, and to their relatives' homes. Once assured that the individuals or families will be accommodated, the Department of Homeless Services makes all their travel arrangements, including attaining visa's, travel tickets, and will sometimes throw in up to 4 months rent for their relocation.
